Moris Farms

The Moris Family, dedicated to organic viticulture in the Maremma region of Tuscany,

has emmerged as one of Suthern Tuscany’s premier producers offering wines which have remained true to their origin while at the same time pioneering the exploration of non-tuscan varietals. Over the years, the family has managed to stay true to their roots and offer excellent value at every price point. The Moris family has been in Maremma for over 200 years. While the actual surface area of the farm is 476 hectares and is divided into two properties, there are 70 actual hectares under vine.

Tenuta Poggetti, 420 Hectares located near Massa Marittima (Fattoria Poggetti), of which 37 hectares of vineyards are found within the DOC of “Monteregio di Massa Marittima“. A series of new vine plantings have occurred since 1990 In total the vineyard is represented as follows: – 34 hectares of new vineyards, – 3 hectares which exist from the 1970’s. The soil is composed of clay, with a PH slightly alkaline (7,7); due to the presence of an elevated content of pure calcium. The density of the foundation is abundant (35 %) which allows for excellent drainage. The altitude of the vineyards varies from 80 – 100 meters above sea level. The exposition of the rows is facing south west.

The Tenuta Poggeti estate is planted with Sangiovese and Vermentino, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Viognier. The soil is traditional for the Monteregio di Massa Marittima D.O.C. region, clay based and rich with the metal minerals from the hills.

Poggio La Mozza, 56 hectares near Grosseto, of which 33 hectares of vineyards carry the DOC of “Morellino di Scansano“. In the vineyards of Poggio la Mozza we initiated a replanting in 1995 completing these changes in 2004. The entire zone of Poggio la Mozza is made up of hills with an altitude of approximately 100 meters above sea level. The soil contains slight crumbling rock with a sandy appearance, featuring traces of limestone. The foundation is notably dense and deep. The PH has a tendency toward acidity: 6,3. The exposition of the rows is north to south. The Poggio la Mozza estate is planted with Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
